Renal Pathologist
The Department of Pathology and Immunology at Washington University School of Medicine is seeking an AP board certified and fellowship-trained Renal Pathologist at the Assistant/Associate Professor level to join an established renal pathology service. Experience and/or fellowship training in another subspecialty (especially genitourinary pathology) and/or research is desirable. The renal pathologist will work closely with the other renal pathologist and nephrologists and will be responsible for sign out of medical and transplant kidney biopsies. Applicants will be expected to sign out a second surgical pathology subspecialty, preferably genitourinary pathology, depending on interest and background.
The Department currently receives approximately 70,000 non-cytology surgical pathology specimens per year including approximately 500-600 renal biopsies, including consultation cases. Approximately one-third of the renal biopsies are transplant cases. The Department receives renal biopsies from Barnes and St. Louis Children’s hospitals and several regional hospitals in Missouri and Illinois. The Department: The Department of Pathology & Immunology excels in basic and clinical research as well as delivery of outstanding surgical pathology and laboratory medicine services to our patients and colleagues. Candidates must possess M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. degrees as well as Board certification or active candidate status for Anatomic and/or Anatomic and Clinical Pathology through the American Board of Pathology. The candidate is expected to have excellent interpersonal, communication, and administrative skills as well as interest in education of medical students and post-graduate trainees. Development of an extramural funded research program is highly encouraged and will be supported.
