Interventional Radiology (IR) Radiologist- Section Chief
The Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology at Washington University School of Medicine, St Louis, MO, is seeking an accomplished academic interventional radiologist to lead the Interventional Radiology (IR) section. The IR section is currently composed of 14 faculty, 6 fellows, and 4 physician assistants. We have an ACGME accredited IR residency and fellowship program. The MIR radiology residency is the largest and among the best in the country and the Medical School and Department are typically ranked in the top 5 in the US in NIH funding.
The IR section provides a full range of Interventional Radiology services to the nationally-rated Barnes Jewish and St. Louis Children’s Hospital, which have just completed a 1 billion dollar investment in new patient towers, including new interventional radiology suites, overlooking Forest Park, recently rated the best city park in America. We also provide IR services to Barnes Jewish West County Hospital and have an outpatient IR facility in south St Louis County. The section enjoys exceptional interdisciplinary relationships with other departments, for clinical, teaching, and research endeavors.
Washington University and MIR offer an excellent environment for clinical and basic science research. The Clinical Research Lab provides coordinator support for clinical research. 4 MRs, 2 PET/CT, and a PET/MR are dedicated to human research scanning in addition to our large clinical imaging infrastructure. PET studies are supported by a world-class cyclotron facility with GMP for novel radiopharmaceutical production. Animal research facilities within the department provide temporary housing, surgical preparation and pre-clinical imaging (Fluoroscopy, MR, PET/CT, PET/MR). Statistical support, cluster computing and a supercomputing facility are also available for image and data analysis.
Applicants should be ABR certified with CAQ certification in Interventional Radiology or equivalent. The desired candidate should be an outstanding leader, innovator, clinician, and educator. A firm commitment to research, as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications, successful mentorship and experience with research grants is highly desirable. Academic rank will be dependent on qualifications, but is expected to be at the level of Full Professor for the appropriate candidate.
