Full-Time Faculty Member - Endocrine/Oncologic Surgeon
The Department of Surgery at Washington University School of Medicine is seeking a full-time faculty member that will be a national and international leader in Endocrine and Oncologic Surgery. This faculty member will be practicing at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, which has over 1,300 licenses beds, and potentially at other local affiliated institutions (i.e., Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital, Christian Hospital). As part of Washington University Medical Center, one of the largest clinical and biomedical research facilities, the Department of Surgery is one of the world's largest, most experienced, surgical programs in the country. We are also affiliated with the Alvin J. Siteman Cancer Center, which is a nationally renowned NCI-designated program whose leaders are among the best in the field. The Endocrine Surgery program includes a team of endocrine surgeons, trainees, nurse practitioners, and researchers who are dedicated to providing excellent care for patients across the spectrum of endocrine disorders. All of the faculty in the Department of Surgery support the tripartite mission of clinical excellence, exceptional resident education and world class research.
The successful candidate will:
- Be a board certified/eligible general surgeon
- Be fellowship trained in endocrine and oncologic surgery
- Have demonstrated clinical excellence in surgical management of endocrine diseases.
- Have a minimum of 3-4 years of experience in Endocrine Surgery with demonstrable clinical program development performed in an academic setting.
- Be recognized nationally for academic excellence in patient care, teaching and research and be acknowledged among his/her peers as a visionary thinker.
- Support and promote the concept of patient centered care within a multidisciplinary clinical environment, and an understanding of the current forces in medicine and work with the Departmental and Divisional leadership in strategic growth of the service.
- Have demonstrated clinical leadership experience for advancing outcomes in quality, performance management, growth in academic initiatives.
- Have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with other professionals to advance clinical programs, educational mission and research.
- Provide surgical leadership and mentorship of junior faculty, as well as fellows and residents in training.
- Promote and participate in research and lead our research program in endocrine and oncologic surgery.
- Participate in and promote faculty opportunities for philanthropy to fulfill needed funding for various programs and services.
- Serve as a leader to promote the program through actively marketing the endocrine practice with referring physicians, insurance carriers, and other organizations who are able to promote patient referrals.
