Clinical Nephrologist

The Division of Nephrology at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis is seeking to hire a Clinical Nephrologist at the Assistant, Associate or full Professor level. The selected candidate will be part of a growing team of committed academic physicians under the leadership of the recently appointed Division Director of Nephrology, Dr. Benjamin Humphreys.

The primary responsibility of the new attending will be to care for a large and growing population of dialysis patients centered around a new dialysis unit. The successful candidate will serve as Medical Director of that unit. The candidate will also help cover an inpatient service at one hospital adjacent to the new dialysis unit, as well as outpatient clinics nearby. A unique advantage of this position is that all practice areas are close by so there will be minimal driving. There will be opportunities for attending on the inpatient nephrology consult service at Barnes Jewish Hospital as well, and chances to participate in strategic planning around the rapid growth of dialysis patients affiliated with BJC Health System. Call will be shared with division faculty. In particular, the successful physician will have an opportunity to grow home hemodialysis and “tele-nephrology” and be on the cutting edge of innovative new nephrology care models. There will be protected time for academic activities, depending on applicant interests and accomplishments. The candidate selected will receive a faculty appointment to Washington University consistent with their credentials. A highly competitive salary package will be available for the appropriate candidate.  Salary will be based on candidate's work experience and expected productivity and will be competitive with private sector equivalents.
