The Department of Pathology and Immunology is seeking a full-time faculty member at the Assistant/Associate Professor level to join the Division of Laboratory and Genomic Medicine (LGM) division with primary responsibilities in Pediatric Laboratory Medicine.
LGM provides clinical laboratory medical director services for adult care at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and for pediatric care at St. Louis Children’s Hospital (SLCH). The Assistant Director of Pediatric Clinical Laboratory services will have a primary appointment in the Department of Pathology and Immunology and a secondary appointment in the Department of Pediatrics.
SLCH offers comprehensive services in every pediatric medical and surgical specialty and is one of the premier children’s hospitals in the United States. The hospital currently has 280 licensed beds which includes a 30-bed pediatric intensive care unit, 31-bed heart center, an 85-bed newborn intensive care unit, and a 6-bed pediatric bone marrow transplant unit. A new inpatient tower will open in mid-2017.
Expertise in clinical chemistry, toxicology, and diagnosis of inborn errors of metabolism is highly desirable. Additional medical director responsibilities include allergy and immunology, point of care testing, hemostasis testing, quality management, and laboratory utilization.
MD applicants must be board-certified or eligible by the American Board of Pathology in Clinical Pathology. PhD applicants must have appropriate experience and certification.
The successful candidate will primarily share Pediatric clinical laboratory responsibilities, participate in clinical or translational research, and teach and supervise residents and medical students.
